Year of Young People 2018

Evolve Fest 2018

Evolve Fest 2018 is an arts, music, dance and film festival to be held at the Custom House Quay in Greenock this summer for the young people of Inverclyde, helping them celebrate the Year of Young People.  On Sunday 3rd of June, we encourage Inverclyde’s young people with a creative interest to come along grab something to eat at the food stalls, take part in creative workshops with professional artists, and enjoy the variety of live music.

Throughout the year, people from the ages of 12 to 25 will have taken part in a variety of workshops to produce films and art works to be exhibited at the festival.

Young Contemporaries

Secondary school students from across Inverclyde are encouraged to come along on Tuesdays until the 24th of April, to St Columba’s High School (Gourock) for a series of contemporary art workshops.  Professional artists will host these workshops helping produce some brilliant of-the-moment and conceptional artwork to be exhibited at Evolve Fest 2018.

Evolve18 Film School

As part of the Year of Young People 2018 we are hosting two separate workshops for 12 – 17 year olds, and for 18 – 25 year olds, as an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of film-making, and providing free film training for young people with professionals Chris Fallen and Jason Orr.

Join us to learn everything from screenwriting to production design and camera operating, to editing and distribution.  There’s even the opportunity to have your finished film showcased at the Summer Evolve18 Festival!

Year of Young People

Scotland’s first ever Year of Young People is happening in 2018.  It aims to inspire all ages through its young people (8-26) by celebrating their achievements, valuing their contributions to communities and creating new opportunities for them to shine on a local and global stage.  The Year of Young People 2018 will offer even more opportunities for both locals and visitors to enjoy a trip to, and around Scotland.  From adrenaline filled adventure breaks and breath-taking road trips, to a range of exciting events and festivals, Scotland offers endless things to see and do during the celebratory year.
